Swimmers Pull Unidentified Man From River In Monterey County

GREENFIELD (CBS SF) -- The body of an unidentified male was pulled from the Arroyo Seco River in Monterey County on Thursday, according to sheriff's deputies.

At about 4 p.m. on the Fourth of July, emergency personnel responded to the riverfront at Miller's Lodge near Greenfield on a report of a possible drowning victim.

Deputies said that nearby swimmers pulled the body out of the river and attempted CPR.

The male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later. He had no identification on his person and no one at the riverfront knew his name.

According to deputies the victim is Hispanic and believed to be in his 20s.
