3.4 Earthquake Shakes Area Near San Jose Alum Rock Park

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) - A 3.4-magnitude earthquake was recorded in Santa Clara County at midday Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The quake struck at 12:02 p.m. Monday about 9 miles northeast of San Jose.

It was centered on the Calaveras fault at a shallow depth of 5.3 miles, according to the USGS.

San Jose police Sgt. Jason Dwyer said there have been no reports of damage or injury.
