East Palo Alto Police Appoint New Interim Chief

EAST PALO ALTO (CBS SF) -- East Palo Alto officials have appointed Police Capt. Federico Rocha as the city's new interim chief, following the announcement of the retirement of Police Chief Ron Davis.

Rocha joined the East Palo Alto Department in 2010 as director of the Operation Ceasefire program, and was appointed as an interim captain in 2011. He also served as acting chief for nine months in 2011 while Davis served as interim city manager.

Rocha has also served with the U.S. Marshal's office and the U.S. Attorney's Office, as well as the Oakland Police Department.

Davis announced last month that he will leave the city to take a position with the U.S. Department of Justice focusing on community policing initiatives. His retirement takes effect Friday.
