SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— Is getting a college education or earning your degree worth it in these tough economic times and job market? Ben Kaplan, an expert on college scholarships and admissions, says ‘absolutely’.

Kaplan elaborated by saying that the era of just taking out student loans and worrying about how you’ll pay for it later is completely over.

“It’s worth it, but you’ve got to be strategic,” he said.

Kaplan is a bestselling author and nationally syndicated columnist and speaker. He claims to have saved thousands of families billions of dollars in tuition costs.

He explains that you have to have a plan in place before you go to college on how you’re going to pay for it. Some suggestions include; maximizing financial aid, scholarships, and getting free tuition credits by earning college credit before you set foot on campus.
