Man Overboard In Water Near Emeryville Leads To Wild Boat Chase

EMERYVILLE (CBS SF) -- U.S. Coast Guard and Alameda County fire officials were called out on a wild boat chase Friday morning near Emeryville after a man fell overboard.

The operator of a Boston Whaler powerboat fell overboard shortly after 8:30 a.m. this morning near Emeryville, according to the Coast Guard and fire officials.

While a citizen on a private boat was able to pull the man out of the water, the boat itself kept going.

"The vessel was doing doughnuts in the water," said Coast Guard Lt. j.g. Joshua Dykman.

The Coast Guard and Alameda County fire units were called to the scene, and fire officials were able to secure the boat.

The boat operator was evaluated by paramedics and was in good condition, Alameda County fire spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said.
