Big Rig Crash Hits San Jose Signal Lights; Stevens Creek Blvd. Blocked

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) - A big-rig that took out traffic signals on Stevens Creek Boulevard in San Jose Tuesday morning has prompted the California Highway Patrol to issue a Sig-alert for the affected area.

The incident involved a wide-load big rig hauling a portable building and was reported at 6:32 a.m. on Stevens Creek Boulevard at North Monroe Street, CHP Officer Eric Anderson said.

As of 6:50 a.m., westbound Stevens Creek Boulevard from southbound Interstate Highway 880 was closed to due power lines down in the roadway, according to Anderson.

No lanes of Highway 880 were affected by the lane closures, Anderson said.

Because of the repairs needed to signal lights at the intersection, Stevens Creek Boulevard and I-880 ramps at Monroe St. were  expected to be closed until about 5:00 p.m., according to the  CHP.
