OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- An on-duty Oakland police officer was hospitalized after being injured in a car crash Saturday afternoon, a police spokesman said.

The officer was driving his patrol car near San Pablo Avenue and Thomas L. Berkeley Way around 1:05 p.m. when a car struck him, according to Oakland police Officer J. Moore.

He suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment, Moore said.
