San Jose Police Officer Arrested After Pile Of Pot Found In Rented Storage Locker

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) - A San Jose police officer was arrested Tuesday after officers found a large marijuana stash in a closet he rented.

Officers found the marijuana in a storage closet rented in the 400 block of Tully Road about 4:25 p.m. Tuesday and discovered the closet had been rented to Officer Son Vu, 42.

An investigation by police and the district attorney's office concluded that the marijuana was for sale. Vu was then arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Jail, police said.

"It's unfortunate when we see one of our own conducting themselves in this type of activity, alleged activities. but again, it's not a reflection of the department as a whole," San Jose police Chief Larry Esquivel said.

Vu is a 20-year veteran of the Police Department. He has been placed on paid administrative leave while the investigation continues, police said.

"We will not tolerate such conduct especially criminal conduct and we will hold those responsible for their actions," Esquivel said.
