Vallejo Shooting Victim Dies From Injuries

VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- A man who was shot in downtown Vallejo Monday afternoon died of his injuries, police said.

At about 2:20 p.m., police received a report of a shooting in the 400 block of Capitol Street, located about two blocks from Vallejo City Hall.

Officers arriving at the scene found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound, police said.

Vallejo police officers initiated life-saving first aid measures until the rescue personnel arrived, police said.

The victim, later identified as 44-year-old Vallejo resident Willie Troy Johnson, was transported to a nearby hospital's trauma center where he was pronounced deceased.

No suspect information has been released.
