Teen Killed, 3 Injured In East Palo Alto Shooting

PALO ALTO (CBS SF) -- Police are investigating a Sunday night shooting in East Palo Alto that killed one person and sent three people to the hospital.

Emergency crews responded to a shotspotter activation and reports of shots fired around 11:40 p.m. in the area of Purdue Street and Georgetown Avenue.

Officers found four victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Three were transported to Stanford Hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wounds. The fourth victim, 18-year-old Nazario Barajas was pronounced dead at the scene. All four victims are East Palo residents.

One of the hospitalized victims was a 18-year-old man, the other two were women, 18 and 20 years old. All four were believed to be sitting in a car at the time of the shooting.

Fire officials said the East Palo Alto Police Department is continuing to investigate the shooting and strongly encourage any witnesses or people who have information to notify the department at 650-321-1112 or epa@tipnow.org.
