Aunt Of Girl Killed In San Francisco Hit-And-Run Arrested For Child Endangerment

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- The aunt of a 2-year old girl killed in a hit-and-run accident in San Francisco has been arrested for child endangerment.

San Francisco Police announced the arrest of 25-year-old Lorysha Gage, who they say was caring for Mi'yana Gregory when the girl was struck and killed on Mission Street Friday night.

Police say Gage left the girl standing in the middle of the street while she went back to get the girl's brother from the sidewalk.

"Miss Gage, the adult female, decided to turn around to go back to the sidewalk to get the two year old boy, leaving the little two year old female unattended in the street,"  Officer Albie Esparza of the San Francisco Police Department told KPIX 5.

It was then that investigators say little Mi'yana was hit in the crosswalk by the car.  She was dragged a short distance and died.

"We don't know why, we don't know why the person made this decision," Esparza said.

The driver who hit Gregory has not been identified. Authorities are looking for a 1990s white sedan, possibly a Toyota, Lexus or Honda with a dark, mismatched front bumper and dark rims.
