Raiders Assistant Coach Tony Sparano Named As Interim Head Coach

ALAMEDA (CBS SF) -- Former NFL head coach and current Oakland Raiders assistant coach Tony Sparano has been named the interim head coach of the Raiders, according to a team press release.

He will take over for Dennis Allen, who was fired by the Raiders late Monday night following an 0-4 start and a blowout loss to the Miami Dolphins in London Sunday.

Sparano coached the Dolphins from 2008 to 2011 before he was fired late in the 2011 season, finishing with an overall 29-32 record. He was offensive coordinator for the New York Jets in 2012.

Sparano has been the Raiders' assistant head coach/offensive line coach since joining the team in 2013.
