Family Of San Francisco Man Missing Since Halloween Believe His Body Found In Bay

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – The family of a 26-year-old San Francisco man, who has been missing since Halloween, said they believe a body found in San Francisco Bay near Alcatraz on Tuesday morning is that of Dan Ha.

"While the face and body were indistinguishable, the clothes, wallet content and phone matched Dan's personal belongings," said his younger brother Joseph.  "At this time, we as a family believe the body is Dan's."

The news has not yet been confirmed by the medical examiner's office.  His parents said they have no reason to believe this was a suicide. San Francisco Police continue to investigate the case.

Ha left his South of Market apartment on Halloween night and had not been heard from since. He had called in sick to his job at Metromile that day and failed to show up for a company event over the weekend.

His friends and family had been checking his phone, e-mail and social media accounts, but there was no activity on them since he went missing.

His family made the announcement at a news conference on Wednesday. They said a public memorial service is planned for Friday night at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in San Francisco.
