Sub $3 Gas Becoming A Common Sight In Bay Area
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - Oil prices continued to tumble Friday after OPEC producers elected not to cut production. That means we could see the slide in gas prices continue for the foreseeable future.
Months ago the idea of gas for under $3 in the Bay Area seemed like an antiquated notion, but a look at the CBS SF Gas Buddy map reveals cheaper gas is not only available but even widespread in some parts of the Bay Area.
Regular prices in the $2.90's dot the Peninsula, spreading across the South Bay. Roughly half of the stations in the East Bay list prices under $3 bucks. A handful of Marin County stations also dipped under the barrier.
As of Friday morning, only the Arco on Geneva Ave. ($2.99) and the Valero on Ocean Ave. ($2.99) were the only places in San Francisco listing sub $3 regular.
