49ers-Chargers, 3 State Championships Put NorCal-SoCal Football Bragging Rights On The Line Saturday

SAM FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - When the San Francisco 49ers take on the San Diego Chargers Saturday at 5:25 p.m. on KPIX 5 they will join three high school programs trying to make the Bay Area proud in matchups with Southern California foes.

Contra Costa County has made history by becoming the first county in California ever to send three teams to the CIF Championship, according to SF Gate, meaning the county will be represented in three of the state's five divisions.

The high school games will take place at the The StubHub Center in Carson, with Moraga's 15-0 Campolindo team taking a second crack at the Division III national title after falling short in the 2011 game. They'll play 14-0 El Capitan of Lakeside at noon.

Clayton Valley Charter of Concord (15-0) will try to bring home the Division II title against 14-1 Redlands East Valley with kickoff scheduled for 4 p.m. Clayton Valley has never played for the CIF Championship Bowl. Both the Clayton Valley and Campolindo games will be broadcast on Comcast Sports Net.

At 5:25 the 49ers will host the San Diego Chargers at Levi's Stadium. The 49ers were eliminated from playoff contention last week. Now they'll be forced to play spoiler with Chargers still making a run at the postseason.

Back in Carson, perennial power De La Salle (13-0) will make 9th consecutive State Championship bowl game appearance at 8 p.m. The Spartans will face 12-2 Centennial. The two have played twice in Championships, with De La Salle winning in 2007 and 2012, according to CIF. That Game will air on Comcast SportsNet Plus.
