Pedestrian Hit On Caltrain Tracks In Palo Alto; 5th Bay Area Train Incident In 24 Hours

PALO ALTO (CBS SF) - Trains are halted at the Palo Alto Caltrain Station Tuesday afternoon after a person was hit on the tracks.

"At 11:45 a.m. northbound train #143 struck a pedestrian on the train tracks in Palo Alto train station. The train involved in the accident is stopped at the scene," said Caltrain's Christine Dunn.

SamTrans and VTA are honoring Caltrain tickets during the investigation and delay.

On Monday night, a woman was killed while sitting in traffic in her car on the tracks in Menlo Park. That came hours after a man was hit and killed in a Caltrain tunnel in San Francisco. A Union Pacific freight train hit a car on the tracks in Morgan Hill Monday afternoon.

Earlier Tuesday, an Ace Train headed to San Jose over the Altamont Pass hit pedestrian in Stockton just before dawn.

Also on Tuesday, dozens were injured in a train derailment in Southern California.
