2 Men Found Shot To Death Near SF Crocker-Amazon Playground; 2 Suspects Sought

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF)-- San Francisco police are investigating the killing of two young men shot to death sitting in a car parked near a playground in a violence-plagued neighborhood.

Police received a call about the shootings in the city's Crocker-Amazon neighborhood when workers for the city's Recreation and Parks Department heard heard shots at about 9:36 a.m. Monday.

The workers said they heard the shots coming from the parking lot east of the playground's soccer field. Neighbors aslo said they heard the sound of shots fired.

A police spokesman said the victims are men in their 20s. The bodies were in a parked older model tan Camaro with its windows shot out on the 700 block of Moscow.

One of the victims was dead at the scene and the other died at a nearby hospital from his injuries.

The suspects were also described as men in their 20s. Full descriptions of the suspects were not available, but police are canvassing the neighborhood in search of the suspects.

"These suspects often just start shooting randomly. Thankfully no one else was hit by random bullets," said Officer Albie Esparza.

No arrests have been made. A motive in the shooting was not immediately available Monday.

Esparza said while crime knows no schedule, it is unusual for a shooting to occur at a park so early in the morning, given that people were going to work and kids were headed to school.

In January, four young men were shot to death while sitting in a stolen car in the Hayes Valley neighborhood. Police are searching for the killers in that case as well and suspect a gang connection.
