Beach-Capable Wheelchairs Available At Bay Area Beaches

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- If you need a wheelchair, the California Coastal Commission doesn't want it to keep you from enjoying California's amazing beaches, and they have the equipment to make it happen.

Dozens of California beaches, including a handful in the Bay Area offer beach wheelchairs equipped with wide wheels capable of rolling across sand without sinking.

The chairs are owned by the beaches, and are available to be borrowed free of charge.

Baker, Crissy, and Ocean beaches in San Francisco all have wheelchairs available.

To find a beach near you with wheelchairs available, check the Coastal Commission's website.
