SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A robust economy that has drawn in scores of workers to the San Francisco area has also put more stress on highways and city streets, securing the region a third place spot on the list of worst commutes in the country.

Commuters heading into and out of the city wasted an average of 58.5 hours stuck in traffic from mid-2013 to mid-2014, according to INRIX, which analyzes traffic congestion across the world.

Year-over-year, time wasted in traffic increased 36-minutes.

The city wasn't the only Bay Area spot on the list.  San Jose scored seventh place on the list, with drivers there wasting an average of 36.8-hours stuck in their cars.
