$1.5M Spent To Renovate 2 Public Restrooms In San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Recreation and Park Department officials opened renovated public restrooms Friday along Ocean Beach in San Francisco, city officials said.
The $1.5 million job renovated one restroom at the intersection of Judah Street and the Great Highway and another restroom at the intersection of Taraval Street and the Great Highway, according to the Recreation and Park Department.
Rec and Park officials said both buildings were built in the 1930s and city planning officials have said the buildings are eligible for the California Register of Historic Resources. City officials said the buildings are designed in the Classical Revival Style.
"We have supported these restrooms' renovation because we know how important they are to our residents and visitors so that they can enjoy their visits to Golden Gate Park, Ocean Beach and the Outer Sunset Neighborhood," San Francisco Supervisor Katy Tang said in a statement.
The renovations began in the summer of last year. Money for the renovations came from the 2008 Clean and Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond's Citywide Restroom Renovation Program, according to the Rec and Park Department.
