DALY CITY (CBS SF) — A paraglider died after crashing into a coastal cliff in Daly City Sunday morning.

North County Fire Authority spokesman Clyde Preston told KCBS radio that crews were dispatched for a rescue operation on Westline Drive, near Mussel Rock, at around 9:30 a.m.

Crews arrived and located the victim over one of the cliffs there.

They used ropes to rappel down the cliff. When they reached the patient, firefighter paramedics were unable to revive him. The paraglider was declared dead at the scene.

Preston says they respond to accidents like this near Mussel Rock frequently. Sadly, this one ended in a fatality.

The victim’s name and age have not been released, pending the notification of family members.
