MOUNTAIN VIEW (CBS SF) — A Bay Area man who just wouldn’t accept a parking ticket ended up digging himself a bigger hole.

Police say 34-year-old Shamieh Fadi was supposedly parked in a red zone in front of a fire hydrant.

The parking enforcement officer tried to ticket him but said he sped away instead.

The officer then followed him into an alleyway where Fadi allegedly refused the ticket a second time.

That’s when he drove off, apparently hitting the officer.

“Having a felony on your record – an assault with a deadly weapons charge — being arrested and booked into jail, I think it would have been smarter to just take the ticket,” said Mountain View Police Sgt. Saul Yeager.

Police say you don’t have to take the ticket for it to be valid. It will be mailed to your house regardless.

The parking officer was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released.
