BOLINAS (CBS SF) — A driver has been arrested on suspicion of DUI Sunday morning after a head-on collision on state Highway 1 north of Bolinas that left one vehicle off the roadway and down an embankment, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident was reported at 7:32 a.m. just south of Five Brooks Road, according to the CHP.

Two people were extricated from vehicles and transported to a hospital for medical treatment, according to Officer Andrew Barclay.

The crash was originally reported as a major injury accident, but was later downgraded to a minor injury collision, Barclay said.

The victims were conscious, breathing and alert at the time of the rescue, according Barclay, but the extent of their injuries was not immediately clear.

Details about any other victims were not immediately available.
