California GOP Lawmaker Mistakenly Approves Budget, Says He Was Distracted By Facebook

SACRAMENTO (CBS SF) – A Republican lawmaker in Sacramento became the only lawmaker from his party to vote for this year's budget, saying he was distracted by checking Facebook.

Assemblyman Scott Wilk of Santa Clarita voted in favor of the spending plan Monday.

Wilk admitted to the mistake in a Twitter post, saying "My wife is right - I can't multitask!" and that his vote was accidental.

The assemblyman was later allowed to change his vote.

The budget was passed by wide margins in the heavily Democratic Assembly and State Senate and heads to Gov. Jerry Brown's desk. Brown has not said if he would sign the $117.5 billion spending plan into law.
