Gunfight Breaks Out Between 2 Cars In Emeryville Parking Lot

EMERYVILLE (CBS SF) -- A gunfight broke out in the Pak N Save parking lot in Emeryville Thursday afternoon but it appears no one was injured, an Emeryville police captain said.

The shooting was reported at 1:24 p.m. in the grocery store parking lot at 3889 San Pablo Ave., police said.

Witnesses told police that two men drove a black Lexus and a gold Mercedes Benz into the parking lot, got out of their cars and started shooting at each other.

The two men then got back into their cars and fled. One fled south on San Pablo Avenue and the other fled through the parking lot, police said.

An employee of the Bank Club bar across the street said she heard about 10 shots fired. Police officers recovered 10 shell casings in the parking lot.

Two parked cars were struck by gunfire but they were unoccupied, police said. It appears no one was injured, as police checked local hospitals for victims and didn't find any.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from the grocery store and nearby businesses and have obtained a partial license plate number for the Lexus: California .5SF--569.

Anyone with information about the shooting has been asked to contact Emeryville police Detective Mayoraga at (510) 596-3732.
