LOS ANGELES (CBS SPORTS) — The man driving the Giants team bus on Friday is likely a bit chagrined by now, as reports surfaced Saturday that the bus left without manager Bruce Bochy.
“The bus left me,” Bochy told Fox Sports. “I thought it was like, ‘Leave no troops behind.'”READ MORE: Armed Bike Thieves Targeting Cyclists in the East Bay Hills
From there, Bochy went outside and called a cab. He actually saw shortstop Brandon Crawford — he’s an LA native and went to UCLA — but refused Crawford’s offer of a ride, as Crawford isn’t staying at the team hotel and Bochy didn’t want him to go out of his way.READ MORE: COVID Vaccines: Contra Costa Drop-In Sites End Frustration Among Those Struggling To Find Appointments
Fox Sports West reports that Bochy then waited for 35 minutes for his cab, which initially couldn’t find him.MORE NEWS: COVID Reopening: San Francisco Allows For Small Indoor Gatherings Among Fully Vaccinated
Eventually, though, Bochy got back to the hotel. All is well that ends well and this one has a funny story to boot.
