3 Humble Things Steph Curry Said After Winning The ESPY That Made You Love Him Even More

OAKLAND (CBS) - Stephen Curry could have shown up to the ESPY Awards and talked about himself as the greatest shooter in NBA history. But as Warriors fans know, #StephGonnaSteph and then he's going to be humble about it.

Wednesday night was no exception, as he spent about as long hugging his sister and teammates as he did actually accepting his award. When he did acknowledge being named the best male athlete on the planet over the past year, he did so without a single self congratulatory word. Here's what he did say:

  • "I want to thank…my wife who is not here with us. We have a five day old daughter and she is at home right now. Thank you honey for everything you do for me."
  • "I got my squad over here. All of this is not possible without you and all the hard work we put into it all year."
  • "I never imagined myself standing on this stage holding this award. I'm 6'3" 180 pounds soaking wet. So It's nice to be called an athlete once in a while."

On social media he even managed to give props to the US Women's National Team while still making his night all about his teammates.

Curry was named both best NBA Player and Best NBA Athlete at the event. He'll likely throw throw those in the trophy case next to his brand new MVP award and the championship ring he has coming to him.
