Search On For 3 Suspects Who Stole Man's Wallet After Kicking Him In The Head, Face Near Redwood City

REDWOOD CITY (CBS SF) -- Sheriff's deputies are looking for three suspects who stole a man's wallet Tuesday night in unincorporated San Mateo County near Redwood City after knocking him down and kicking him in the face and head.

Deputies responded at about 11:15 p.m. to the 3600 block of Middlefield Road to a report of an armed robbery involving a deadly weapon, sheriff's officials said.

The suspects, one male and two females, approached a 50-year-old man walking near Garfield School and demanded his wallet, sheriff's officials said. The male suspect hit the man in the head with an object wrapped in clothing, knocking him to the ground, according to the sheriff's office.

The suspects then kicked the man in the face and head, deputies said, and one of them took the man's wallet.

The victim went to a hospital for injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies said the two female suspects have tattoos, are heavy set and in their early 20s.

Deputies said the male suspect is about 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs about 190 pounds, has tattoos on his arms and is in his late 20s. He was wearing an orange shirt with cutoff sleeves and white or tan shorts that went about six inches below the knees.

Anyone with more information about the incident is being asked to get in touch with Detective Hector Acosta at (650) 363-4064 or by email at hacosta@smcgov.org. Tipsters can remain anonymous by calling (800) 547-2700.
