OAKLAND (CBS SF) — An 82-year-old man who walked away from his home on Saturday afternoon has been found safely in Oakland, according to police.

Peter Gales, who was thought to be at-risk due to health issues, had last been seen walking his dog in the vicinity of his Oakland home on Sequoyah View Drive around 4 p.m. Saturday.

Gales was found safe in Oakland today, according to police, although details about the circumstances under which he was found were not immediately available.

Police thanked the media and the public for their assistance in locating Gales.
