Passengers Subdue Armed Woman On San Francisco Muni Bus
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS-SF) -- A 27-year-woman was in custody on attempted murder charges Friday after she allegedly stabbed a 10-year-old boy on a San Francisco Muni bus, authorities said.
San Francisco resident Sharinna Beoncia Grady, 27, was taken into police custody shortly after 2:45 p.m. on Thursday when officers received a report of a stabbing on a bus near the intersection of Palou Avenue and Jennings Street, according to police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza.
Esparza said the 10-year-old boy was riding the bus when he got into an argument with the woman.
The woman apparently stabbed the boy with a folding knife, police said.
Passengers on the Muni bus restrained the woman and took the knife away, according to police. Esparza said the bus stopped and officers were able to take the woman into custody.
Grady was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, Esparza said.
Police said the boy suffered stab wounds to his shoulder and hand, as well as a scrape to his cheek. The boy was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
Officers recovered the knife and booked it into evidence.
Esparza said that the boy and the woman do not appear to be related and that the assault remains under investigation.
