Santa Clara University Student Raped At Off-Campus Party; Suspect Arrested

SUNNYVALE (CBS SF) -- A Sunnyvale man has been arrested for the alleged kidnapping and rape of a Santa Clara University student at a house party near campus last month, police said.

The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety said officers responded on November 14th to a report of a sexual assault that happened three days earlier.

The 18-year-old female victim told police she had been at the off-campus party where she met 27-year-old Pedro Madrid. While at the party, the victim became extremely intoxicated and was unable to care for herself, according to police.

Madrid - who is not a Santa Clara University student and was not known to the party hosts or attendees - drove the victim to his Sunnyvale home where he raped her, police said.

Based on the information the victim was able to provide, investigators found and arrested Madrid on charges of rape, kidnapping and penetration with a foreign object.

Anyone with information about the case was urged to contact the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety Investigations Bureau at (408) 730-7120.
