The 18-year-old female victim told police she had been at the off-campus party where she met 27-year-old Pedro Madrid. While at the party, the victim became extremely intoxicated and was unable to care for herself, according to police.

Madrid – who is not a Santa Clara University student and was not known to the party hosts or attendees – drove the victim to his Sunnyvale home where he raped her, police said.
