Lanes Reopened After Hwy 4 Crash Involving Multiple Vehicles
PITTSBURG (CBS SF) -- Lanes that were closed on state Highway 4 in Pittsburg earlier Tuesday have since reopened after a collision involving as many as six vehicles, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at 12:01 p.m. on the highway's eastbound lanes near San Marco Boulevard, according to the CHP.
At least one of the vehicles involved reportedly overturned and landed on its roof with a person trapped inside, according to the CHP.
CHP Officer John Fransen said it was also initially reported that there was a baby inside one of the vehicles.
Fransen said one person was taken to John Muir Medical Center for potentially major injuries. He was not immediately able to confirm whether there were more people injured or if the infant was injured.
The crash scatted debris across the highway. The CHP issued a Sig-alert at 12:35 p.m. alerting motorists that all but one lane was closed at the scene of the collision.
At 1:21 p.m., the CHP announced that all lanes were reopened and the Sig-alert was canceled.
