High Surf Advisory For Bay Area Coast, 15-Foot Waves Possible

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory in effect for parts of the Bay Area from 7 p.m. Wednesday until 7 a.m. Friday.

The advisory will be in effect for the coastal North Bay, including Point Reyes National Seashore, the Peninsula coast, northern and southern Monterey Bay and the Big Sur coast.

Waves and surf from a westerly swell could build to 12 to 15 feet by Thursday night.

The weather service is warning beachgoers that there is the potential to be swept into the water by fast-moving waves. There is also a risk of strong rip currents and large shore breaks.
