Search Suspended For Missing Santa Rosa Attorney

SANTA ROSA (KCBS) – The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office is no longer actively searching for a Santa Rosa civil attorney who went missing over the holiday weekend.

Sheriff's officials say Steven Mitchell was last seen around 9 a.m. Saturday morning in Santa Rosa. He was reported missing by his wife around 8 p.m. that night.

Officials say Mitchell's wife called the sheriff's office again around 7 a.m. Sunday to report her husband's cellphone was last used in the Bodega Bay area.

Park rangers spotted his car around 8pm Sunday night and say they found nothing suspicious. Crews looked for him again Monday and say the active search has been suspended.

The 56-year-old Mitchell represents Sonoma County in the civil rights violation lawsuit filed by the parents of Andy Lopez who was fatally shot by a sheriff's deputy in October of 2013.
