SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – A San Francisco cannabis club is among the first to sell medical marijuana products designed especially for women by Whoopi Goldberg.

The actor and comedian joins Snoop Dogg and Bob Marley's heirs among celebrities joining the cannabis industry.

Budtender Melinda Rodriguez at Barbary Coast dispensary on Mission Street said the "Whoopi and Maya" products are formulated specifically for women:

"For women to relax, ease pain," Rodriguez told KCBS.

Menstrual pain, to be specific, with a line of bath salts, sipping chocolate and body balm, all infused with medical cannabis.

"This one is lightly dosed, with 25 milligrams of THC within the whole container," Rodriguez said.

During our interview, Rodriguez was wearing the body balm, giving her forearms, an earthy smell.

"I use it typically for my arm pain, I have carpal tunnel," she explained.

Goldberg said her products are made to relax you, not get you high.

"It's not psychoactive, and it does help with the pain. Anxiety, headaches, whatnot," according to Rodriguez.

The budtender said as many MEN are buying the body rub as women, because it works like Ben Gay, with a much more fragrant smell:

"Well, not everybody wants to get high, they want relief. It's not always about getting stoned," Rodriguez said.
