Bernie Sanders Campaigns In Palo Alto, Says He's Ready To Defeat Trump

PALO ALTO (CBS SF) -- It was a very busy day for senator Bernie Sanders in Palo Alto Wednesday.

The stump speech on the Cubberley High School football field left many literally feeling the burn after waiting for hours under a blazing sun.

It was one of two Sanders campaign appearances in Palo Alto. Earlier he spoke with Asian-American leaders in a town hall style meeting in the gym. In a one-on-one interview with Sanders, he told KPIX he has pledged to take his fight all the way to the convention and beyond.

"I believe that a number of super delegates are going to take a hard look at reality and that is poll after poll that show I run much stronger against Donald Trump than does Hillary Clinton, in fact I'm winning states where she is losing to Donald Trump," Sanders said.

The Sanders campaign moved on to UC Davis Wednesday evening. Donald Trump is planning a trip to San Jose Thursday.

The Democratic race is tightening in California.

According to a new Wall Street Journal poll, Hillary Clinton leads Bernie Sanders by just 2 points, well within the margin of error.
