Curry Denies Sore Shoulder Needs Surgery

OAKLAND (CBS SF) – Golden State star Steph Curry walked into the media interview room Sunday and immediately there was a buzz.

There he sat, his right shoulder swaddled in either a heat or ice pack like a Major League Baseball pitcher.

His appearance gave fuel to a Los Angeles Daily News report that Curry may need some off-season surgical work on his knees and/or shoulders or both.

But the two-time MVP was quick to address the report.

"I can't even keep a straight face, whoever said I was getting shoulder surgery and all that kind of stuff," Curry told the reporters. "We got bumps and bruises but we'll be all right. We'll be fine."

That said it was been a very tough post-season for Curry. He sprained his right ankle and then sprained an MCL in his right knee during the early rounds of the NBA playoffs.

In all, he has missed six post-season games with injuries in which the Warriors rolled to a 5-1 record.

But there is no denying Curry's aches and pains have become an issue.

Days after saying he was looking forward to playing on the Olympic team, Curry pulled his name from consideration.

"Due to several factors — including recent ankle and knee injuries — I believe this is the best decision for me at this stage of my career," he said last week.
