SAN FRANCISCO (CBS) — The Democratic National Committee chairwoman will resign at the end the Democratic National Convention after Wikileaks released emails revealing her bias against Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.
Dubbed the “Hillary Leaks series” by WikiLeaks, the leak is comprised of a searchable database of almost 20,000 emails with over 8,000 attachments and photos from the email accounts of top DNC employees.READ MORE: Oakland Police Arrest Homicide Suspect Who Fatally Shot Male Victim, Fired at Firefighters
The leak revealed a bias against Sanders by DNC officials, including DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, U.S. Representative for Florida’s 23rd congressional district.
In one email she refers to Sanders’ campaign manager Jeff Weaver as a “damn liar.” Wasserman Schultz will resign from her position at the DNC at the end of the Democratic National Convention, which runs through Thursday.
While the DNC issued an apology to Sanders at the start of the convention on Monday, Sanders’ supporters at the convention have continued to express their anger over the contents of the leaked emails. Sanders’ supporters have expressed their concerns over emails that show close collaboration between Democratic party leaders and Hillary Clinton’s staffers.
Many emails in the database were sent from the email accounts of DNC’s Northern California finance director, Robert Erik Stowe, communications director Luis Miranda, national finance director Jordon Kaplan, finance chief of staff Scott Comer, finance director of data & strategic initiatives Daniel Parrish, finance director Allen Zachary and senior advisor Andrew Wright, among others.
The emails, according to WikiLeaks, cover the period from January 2015 through May 25, 2016.READ MORE: San Francisco Police Arrest Man Suspected of Carjacking Uber Driver in SoMa
Wikileaks said this is just part one of the Hillary Leaks series.
Other leaked emails divulged off-the-record and deep background responses by DNC officials to reporters at numerous national media outlets.
One email shows DNC staffers’ fake craigslist job posting made for women who wish to apply to jobs at one of Trump’s organizations. The fake position, titled a Honey Bunny, requires the prospective applicant to, among other tasks, refrain from gaining weight, be open to public humiliation and be alright with groping or kissing by her boss.
Other emails revealed donors’ Social Security numbers as well as crude exchanges between DNC staffers.
Wikileaks has not revealed the source of the leaked emails, but the Federal Bureau of Investigations is investigating the breach.MORE NEWS: 49ers Playoffs: Faithful Gear Up As Showdown Vs. Packers Nears
