Missing Delta Jet Skiers Found Safe

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Three jet skiers whose craft ran out of gas stranding them overnight on a sand bar off Sherman Island in the Delta have been rescued, authorities said.

The missing trio was located at 7:37 a.m., after a Sherman Island resident reported seeing three people stranded on a sandbar, according to Coast Guard officials.

A CHP helicopter and a Sacramento County sheriff's boat responded to the area and brought the three back to Brannan Island State Park, Coast Guard officials said.

The Coast Guard had been searching for the three victims, who included a 10-year-old girl, a 22-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man, since they were first reported missing Friday night.

round 9 p.m., the Coast Guard received a call from Brannan Island State Park regarding an overdue Jet Ski, with three people aboard, according to Coast Guard officials.

The Jet Ski departed the park around 8 p.m. All three victims were seen wearing bathing suits and lifejackets.
