SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX) — The team called it a “rest day” but it was apparently more than just that for quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who missed his second-straight practice session Friday, complaining of soreness in the shoulder of his throwing arm.

His status for the Niners pre-season opener Sunday is very much in doubt, with QB Blaine Gabbert likely to start against the Texans at Levi’s Stadium.
