San Jose Firefighter Recovering From Injuries Sustained Battling 2-Alarm House Fire

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A firefighter who was injured during a two-alarm house fire in San Jose's Berryessa neighborhood Saturday night has been released from the hospital, according to San Jose Fire Department officials.

The fire was first reported at 9:11 p.m. in the 1400 block of Gordy Drive, fire officials said.

The fire began in a single-family home and then spread to an adjacent home. Everyone inside the homes was able to safely evacuate with no injuries.

The blaze was brought under control around 12:30 a.m., however firefighters remained on scene, according to fire officials.

The injured firefighter was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and has since been released, Fire Capt. Mitch Matlow said.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, however, fire officials believe the blaze may have been accidental, according to Matlow.
