Norah Jones Gets Political On 'Flipside'

(RADIO.COM) – Norah Jones is back with a cool mod-looking lyric video for her newest single "Flipside." The song appears on her forthcoming album Day Breaks.
The song has a stronger political bent than what she's released in the past. "I was really affected by the news and everything that's been going on in the world and in this country over the last couple years," she said in a statement (via Rolling Stone). "It's been really volatile and crazy. I was listening to the Les McCann song 'Compared to What' a lot and was very much influenced by how grooving and amazing it is but also how it's very political and it's just from the gut."
"I can't stand when you tell me to get back/ If we're all free why does it seem we can't just be?" she sings, her voice rising in anger and emotion with the lines. The lyric video has a 1960s vibe about it with animation highlighting the piano keys as Jones plays them and words jumping and moving across the screen.
Day Breaks will feature six original songs penned by Jones, as well as three covers. She last released "Carry On" from the project. The album drops October 7.

Jones is scheduled to perform at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland on Friday, October 28th.
