Deputies Evacuate Rio Nido Homes After Armed Local Threatens Neighbors

RIO NIDO (CBS SF) -- A Sonoma County man was arrested Friday after his neighbor reported that he had assaulted and pointed a gun at him, sheriff's deputies said.

Just before 4 p.m., deputies found Alex Laszlo, 47, on the front deck of a house in the 14000 block of Canyon Seven Road. Laszlo yelled profanities at the deputies and made threats involving weapons.

Deputies evacuated neighbors and others who may have been in danger of an armed subject. Laszlo continued to yell and throw items at the deputies.

A member of the sheriff's Hostage Negotiations Team talked on the phone with Laszlo to determine what was going on, deputies said.

Laszlo had reportedly been seen with firearms and was breaking windows and throwing household items into the driveway and street. Deputies believe Laszlo was drinking alcohol.

Shortly after 6 p.m., Laszlo emerged onto the house's front porch with a cut on his arm that deputies believe he cut himself on glass.

Laszlo collapsed on the front porch from the injury. Deputies arrested him and recovered his starter pistol and lever-action pellet gun.

Laszlo was treated for his injuries at a hospital and was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, threats to commit injury to others and brandishing a replica weapon. He is being held on $150,000 bail, deputies said.
