Police Search For Armed Burglary, Kidnapping Suspect In San Jose

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- Police in are searching Wednesday for an armed burglary and kidnapping suspect who fled through backyards in East San Jose.

Officers were first called to a report of a theft in a business in the 1900 block of Tully Road at 8:50 a.m., police said.

The suspect ran into the neighborhood in the 1800 block of Clarice Drive, jumping fences and forcing his way into two homes.

The resident of one of the homes said she saw a knife in his hand, police said. He told her he had a gun, but she didn't see one.

The suspect, who is considered armed and dangerous, kept running and remains at large, according to police.

Further investigation showed the suspect is wanted for burglary and kidnapping, police said.

Officers have set up a perimeter in the area of Clarice Drive and evacuated residents. The search for the suspect is being treated as a barricade situation as of early this afternoon, police said.
