SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) – An overturned box truck blocked lanes on both northbound and southbound U.S. Highway 101 near the North San Pedro Road off-ramp in San Rafael Friday morning, the California Highway Patrol said.

The truck struck the wall in the center divide scattering food it was hauling around 8:25 a.m., and is leaning on the wall, CHP Officer Andrew Barclay said.

Paramedics treated and transported two patients with minor injuries to an area hospital as a result of the accident.

At 10:20 a.m., it was reported that all southbound lanes had reopened, but the left four northbound lanes remained blocked.

There was no projected time for the reopening of the northbound lanes, according to CHP. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays.

  1. Holy Moly, this is a SIG ALERT!
Sounbound, you are SLOW from Rowland going 5 miles an hour to San Rafael, DO NOT try going down Sounbound.
Northbound, you are backed to the Sir Francis Drake exit BOTH SIDES, one on 580 onto end of Richmond Bridge, other side just by the 580, DO NOT try taking 101 at all in either direction. This is a serious wreck!
