De La Salle Grad Dies Of Injuries From Fall At UNR Frat House

RENO (CBS SF) -- A former Concord high school student, who was gravely injured in a fall at the Sigma Nu fraternity house in Reno, has died and his organs donated to save others, family members said.

Ryan Abele suffered extensive bleeding on the left side of his brain as a result of the fall and could not recover. He was removed from life support on Thursday.

On a website set up in the aftermath of the accident, a message of thanks for the prayers of the many who rallied to support Ryan and his family was posted.

"It's with heavy hearts that Ryan went to his forever home today to be with Our Lord Jesus Christ. We want to thank you for the outpouring love, prayers and support everyone has shown during this time," the post read.

The 18-year-old Abele played baseball for De La Salle High School. His team won the North Coast Section Division I title.

He had just started his freshman year at University of Nevada Reno at the time of the accident.
