3 Detained After Stolen Car Chase, Crash In Oakland

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Three male suspects in their early to mid-teens were detained after they allegedly stole a car, led police on a chase and then crashed into two other vehicles in North Oakland Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Officers tried to stop the suspects' car in the area of 42nd Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way at about 2:40 p.m. after it was identified as a stolen vehicle and also identified as possibly being involved in a recent robbery in the area, according to police.

But the driver failed to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued through West Oakland until the stolen vehicle came to a stop after it collided with two with two uninvolved vehicles in the 5400 block of Adeline Street, police said.

One of the vehicles that was struck by the stolen vehicle was occupied by the driver, who wasn't injured, and the other vehicle was parked and unoccupied, according to police.

The three suspects fled from the stolen vehicle when it came to a stop but they were quickly detained after a short foot pursuit, police said.

Paramedics responded to the scene to provide medical attention to the suspects and they were transported to a local hospital, where they are listed in stable condition and are being treated for moderate injuries, according to police. No additional injuries have been reported at this time.

Oakland police said officers are continuing their investigation into the three suspects and the stolen vehicle and said anyone who has information should call their robbery section at (510) 238-3326.
