'Green Hornet' Star Van Williams Dies At 82

SCOTTSDALE Ariz. (CBS SF) – Best known for his role as the superhero The Green Hornet, actor Van Williams has died. Williams died on Tuesday, November 29th of kidney failure at his home in Scottsdale, Arizona where he lived with his wife Vicki of 57 years. Williams only one kidney since he was 25 years old, Vicki said. He was 82.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Williams' character was a spin-off to the action series "Batman" starring Adam West and Burt Ward. The Green Hornet's sidekick Kato was played by martial arts legend Bruce Lee. The show was short-lived and was cancelled after 26 episodes.

In 2011, The Green Hornet made it on the big screen starring Seth Rogen in the lead role. However, Williams had nothing to do with the reboot, according to his wife.
