Suspect Surrenders After Lengthy Standoff With SWAT Officers In East Oakland

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A barricaded suspect with an arrest warrant surrendered to police after a standoff with SWAT officers that went on for hours Tuesday in Oakland.

The incident occurred in the 1800 block of 41st Avenue, according to police spokeswoman Johnna Watson.

Watson declined to state when the standoff began, but another officer stated that it began shortly after 10 a.m.

Around 3:40 p.m., the suspect was taken into custody.

Police closed Foothill Boulevard between the nearby 4000 and 4200 blocks.

No injuries were reported, and police did not immediately provide details about the suspect or the allegations against them.
