CONCORD (CBS SF) — A California Highway Patrol officer was hurt when a car plowed into a crash scene under investigation on Highway 4 in Concord.

It happened Monday at about 6:15 p.m. on eastbound Highway 4 and Port Chicago Highway.

According to the CHP the officer was at the scene of another crash when a driver plowed into them.

The officer suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital. He is expected to survive.

The crash tied up traffic for 2 hours.
